Tin Angel
03:23
|
|||
you lay in blss as the record skips
and your silence, it speaks volumes to me
paint you to life now
i'm holing the light now
i promise myself
(there's lightning in the cellar)
on the hour-and-six i make my trip downstairs
yeah, i slip down there
to bring you up to speed
i'll make you just like me, oh
i promise myself
(you know i know whats good for you)
i promise myself
this will be the last time
i fuck with
magic
but now
I'm
ready
i took my girl out for a ride
with the top rolled down
like in 1939
my favorite dancer here with me
a passenger now buckled to my dreams
then she smiled ear to ear
and that song came on
that we both needed to here
and when that engine finally died
we laced our boots and hiked to paradise
i promise myself
this will be the last time
i fuck with
magic
but now
I'm
ready

No One's Air
04:13

in case you hit the breaks
i made this song
you can shake off your mistakes
while it's on
the bass will now replace
your crazy thoughts
take this and embrace
that you're not alone
i got people who care whether i live or i die
i don't breathe no one's air that's not mine
i got people who share with me like most of the time
if i told you it was fair i'd be lying
erase this if it changes
just because
if it's jaded, if it's fake
if it's all been done
well then it's safe to say the stakes are high enough
and then it basically negates itself
it makes it wrong
i got people who care whether i live or i die
i don't breathe no one's air that's not mine
i got people who share with me like most of the time
if i told you it was fair i'd be lying

I'm Afraid
04:59
|
|||
i've been waiting out this storm
for days and days
just pacing and laughing
in the cold hard rain
but if i could imagine
what its like to need a name
tie my memory to the forest
light it all on display
wait for now
at the water's edge
you never came
now i'm afraid
and i know that you will always be
american and clean
till the sky brings you back westward
on a train called wind and sea
you're lovely darling, dont you know it
but you never say a thing
wait for now
at the water's edge
you never came
now i'm afraid

Returner

i once knew a girl who lived in the future
never more than friends but i was happy i knew her
due to all the things that i had learned through her
to her i was just a super nice guy
i never made her cry
how could i, hiding at the side lines?
i... was just another steady to... climb
she said, "remember
that night i got so tiny
and i crawled into your mind?
i walked around your body
and arrived at a surprise."
she said, "i thought it would be easy,
but your heart was hard to find.
i assumed it would be enormous
but it was of normal size.
i didnt mind, no
nah i was alright.
i realized, though,
it was your pride that i had liked."
the scene started fading
it was the end of the show
the front door was open
when it went out the
straight out the
window
i picked her up not with a car, but in my arms
safely relocating up and out of harms way
and even though i went so far the wrong way
she was alarmingly greatful
just to have
a guardian angel of sorts
but i was busy equating the difference i made so
i missed the only chance i had to say "oh...
yeah... you're welcome... you clearly mean a lot to me'
"oh wait, where are you going"
she said, "i'm sorry, but now i have to go home.
i'd like you to come with me, but its not for the faint of heart.
it's time you face the future on your own."
only you can control
what hasn't happened yet
but you can't escape fate in retrospect

Stay Poisonous
03:55
|
|||
the two stood through a lucid youth
that took the lives of all they knew
they faced a current, and waded through
then they fell in love
nah, that's not true
if all else fails, i'll live for you
they're on our trail and he's on it, too
it's heads or tails for the next excuse
though, no one cares, and i'm living proof
if we need to get out, oh
we'll find a chariot to get us out of it, again
and if it isn't allowed
we'll make a point of it
to just stay poisonous
light-skinned orphan
making potions
from a cauldron
that's always scalding
hot
enough is enough
yeah you're always in love
if we need to get out, oh
we'll find a chariot to get us out of it, again
and if it isn't allowed
we'll make a point of it
to just stay poisonous

Spirits in the Day
05:04
|
|||
i hear there is a lake hidden in this dry town
somewhere past the row of houses
not a private beach, not quite a reservoir
though its not off limits still cant get in
a few of us from the city came looking for it
stumbling through backyards
we might've toppled a fence or two
we left a trail of modern art
warmer, warmer, we're getting warmer
going back in time is probably not an option
we aren't there yet
no point in stopping
this shit is risk reward
so lets just risk some more
i'm peeling layers of skin off at this rate
this face isn't mine and still i'm starting to hate it
so wheres the fucking lake, man?
wheres the fucking lake?
where's the fucking lake?
i figured you were into this sort of thing
my wrists are ball joints and my hands start to spin
warmer, warmer, we're getting warmer
i think we're almost there
